Acne Diet Development 101

Being on an acne diet is a very fascinating idea. After all, who has not heard the saying that chocolate gives you pimples? Everybody has. So instead of causing a break out, you could prevent it by watching what you eat.

Although creating a good acne diet can be very hard. Its very personal because it has to be based on an individuals responses to food. There are guidelines, but each individual’s progress will mostly be trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Write a journal. You might even try taking pictures with your cameral a few times a week. So if and when your skin clears up, stay on the diet you were on at the time.

Here are some simple rules to get you started on an acne diet:

* 1. Increase your protein intake - Some dermatologists even believe that protein intake is connected to having clear skin. Oil production is limited from an enzyme located within protein. Oily skin tends to be more prone to breakouts.

* 2. Avoid carbohydrates - Its not necessary to cut out all carbohydrates. But you should try to limit your intake so that they are about 40 percent of your diet. This is because compounds in carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. This is why common knowledge says that junk food leads to acne. But actually junk food just is pretty high in carbs.

* Try to drink green tea - If you can, drink real green tea. The best kind of green tea is the kind you brew yourself. However, if you really don’t like it, then try the natural green tea drinks. Green tea holds back androgen production. Androgen is a hormone that will cause your skin to breakout.

* You must restrict the amount of salt you take in - Salt most always contains iodine. This is the reason why you hear table salt called “iodized salt.” For some with acne, iodine an cause major inflammation.

While watching what you eat, you should also be very careful with what you put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. You should only use moisturizers without oil and natural and organic skin care products. These products will least likely cause you to breakout. Consider switching over to mineral makeup. If you want to enhance your acne diet and reduce breakouts, you may want to try mineral makeup.
